On July 5, Xiamen Luwei Optoelectronics Co., Ltd. held a groundbreaking ceremony for its high-generation high-precision photomask project.
The project is invested and constructed by Shenzhen Luwei Optoelectronics and is located in the Torch (Xiangan) Industrial Zone with a total investment of 2 billion yuan and a total construction area of approximately 53,700 square meters. It will build 11 high-end mask production lines, focusing on the research and development and mass production of high-precision photomasks for AMOLED/LTPS G8.6 (8.6th generation) and below.
The project will be implemented in phases. The first phase will take the lead in building 5 high-precision photomask production lines for G8.6 and below AMOLED, equipped with 5 sets (sets) of core main equipment and 22 sets (sets) of precision auxiliary equipment. After reaching production, the annual production capacity will be approximately 1,500 pieces.

According to data, Shenzhen Luwei Optoelectronics focuses on the research and development, production and sales of high-end photomasks, and its products are widely used in flat panel displays, semiconductors and other fields. In the display field, the company's display masks have achieved full generation coverage (G2.5-G11) and full display technology coverage (LCD, AMOLED, LTPS, LTPO, MiniLED, Micro-LED, silicon-based OLED, masks for FMM, etc.).
From the perspective of operating performance, in 2024, Luwei Optoelectronics achieved operating income of approximately 876 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 30.21%; net profit attributable to the parent company was approximately 191 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 28.27%; non-net profit attributable to the parent company was approximately 174 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 39.56%. In the first quarter of 2025, the company achieved revenue of 260 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 47.09%; net profit attributable to the parent company was 49.1501 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 19.66%; non-net profit attributable to the parent company was 44.8341 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 19.90%.
It is worth noting that the mask is the core tool for pattern transfer in display panel manufacturing
, its accuracy and stability directly affect the resolution, yield and cost control of the display panel. In the first half of 2025, in addition to Luwei Optoelectronics, other mask companies are also promoting the construction of related production lines:
In early May, the "first" core equipment of China's first 8.6th generation AMOLED metal mask production line under Jiangsu Gaoguang was officially moved in. After the project is completed, it is expected to produce 780 G8.6-generation AMOLED universal metal masks and 100,000 high-precision metal masks annually.
In April, Qingyi Optoelectronics Foshan's "High-Precision Mask Production Base Construction Project" completed the move-in of the first main equipment. The project will be constructed in three phases. It will mainly produce high-precision masks of the 8.6th generation and below, which are used in flat-panel display mask products such as a-Si, LTPS, AMOLED, LTPO, Micro LED. After the project is completed, it will produce 25,640 high-precision masks per year.
In January, Huangshi Quanyang Optoelectronics’ 8.6th generation metal mask project started. The total investment of the project is 500 million yuan. It is planned to be constructed in two phases and establish two production lines. The first phase is planned to be completed in June 2026.
After the first phase is completed, the annual output value is expected to be 300 million yuan, and the overall project is expected to have an annual output value of 600 million yuan after reaching capacity.
As OLED panel technology shifts from the 6th generation to the 8.6th generation, display masks are developing towards higher precision and more complex processes. Domestic mask companies are accelerating the construction of high-generation production lines, promoting technology upgrades and production capacity improvements. (Compiled by TrendForce Display)
