Smartkem currently has a series of organic thin film transistor (IT Home Note: Organic TFT) ink technology that can be directly used on Micro LED at temperatures as low as 80°C The top of the lamp bead is processed using a low-cost plastic substrate (for comparison, the industry standard is 300°C). Laser welding is not required in Micro LED production, and the number of huge transfers can also be reduced.
The two companies are trying to develop this "first rollable transparent MicroLED display""Using low-cost, flexible and transparent plastic substrates instead of glass to reduce screen production costs so that these screens can be placed in more situations, such as car dashboards, shopping mall billboards, etc.
