Recently, six Taiwanese panel manufacturers, AU Optronics, Innolux, Hannstar Color Crystal, Lingju Technology, Rhenium Technology, and Hualing Optoelectronics, have successively announced their June 2025 revenue. The specific situation is as follows:
The above data shows that the revenue performance of these panel manufacturers in June varied. Among them, Caijing, Lingju, and Hualing, which focus on small and medium-sized panel products, have achieved year-on-year growth in performance; Ribao, which has transformed into energy storage, has a monthly revenue growth of 181.17% year-on-year; while AUO and Innolux, which have high-generation production lines, have seen year-on-year revenue declines for two consecutive months, with declines of 13.08% and 1.23% respectively in June.
This differentiated performance of revenue reflects, to a certain extent, the complex conditions faced by the current panel market.
Panel market conditions and price trends in June
The decline in performance of leading panel manufacturers may be closely related to the recent "cooling" of the panel market.
According to panel price data released by TrendForce, some TV panel prices were reduced in June, while monitor and laptop panel prices remained stable.
Fan Boyu, vice president of research at TrendForce, said that the trend of weakening demand for TV panels has become more clear after June, and brand purchasing attitudes have become more conservative. In addition, due to terminal demand in the second half of the year
Demand is still unclear, and the inventory levels of superimposed brands are gradually rising. Some brand customers are beginning to consider lowering their TV panel procurement momentum in the third quarter, and using order revisions as a bargaining chip with panel manufacturers.
In the display market, panel demand has reached its peak in June, and brand customers have shown signs of correction in their purchases. Affected by the decline in TV panel prices, although there is room for a slight increase in monitor panels, most brand customers were less receptive to panel manufacturers' price increases in June, so monitor panel prices remained flat in June.
As for laptop panels, brands are more optimistic about the subsequent demand for laptops in the second half of the year, and the momentum for panel shipments has increased. The demand for orders in the next few months will show a growth trend, but panel manufacturers are unlikely to increase prices in order to consolidate customer relationships, and laptop panel prices are stable.
Entering July, the latest data from TrendForce Consulting Panel shows that TV panel prices continue to fall, while monitor and laptop panel prices remain stable.
Panel manufacturer dynamics and layout
In order to cope with the challenging market environment and seek new growth drivers, some panel manufacturers are actively making strategic adjustments.
On June 20, it was reported that wafer foundry UMC intends to purchase Caijing’s factory in Nanke. It is reported that Caijing is in Nanke
In addition to having the only 5.3 generation production line, there is also a rear panel module factory next to it. However, the current capacity utilization rate of the factory is low. Last year, there was news that both TSMC and Micron had visited the factory for inspection. Regarding this merger rumor, both Caijing and UMC declined to comment.
In addition, supply chain news shows that Innolux's fifth-generation factory (5th generation factory) in Nanke and Zhunan's T1 (5th-generation factory) have stopped production, or part of their production capacity has been transferred to other factories. These two factories have become the next wave of sales targets; AUO's Singapore factory is also looking for buyers.
On June 24, Daqing, a subsidiary of AUO that specializes in vertical field display solutions, cooperated with S-Bahn Hamburg, a subsidiary of Deutsche Bahn AG (DB), Europe's largest railway operator. The two parties exhibited a new concept train using Daqing's industry-exclusive HiRaso display technology at the 2025 International Union of Public Transport (UITP) Global Transport Summit.
The train introduces Daqing 28.5-inch HiRaso Panel
PC can display passenger information or special zone system applications for bicycle and luggage storage. It is understood that Daqing HiRaso display technology is an innovative e-paper solution that uses the unique bistable characteristics of cholesteric liquid crystals and the way of reflecting ambient light. It consumes zero power when displaying continuously static images, significantly saving 90% of energy consumption compared with traditional liquid crystal display technology.
On June 26, CarUX, a subsidiary of Innolux that specializes in vehicle display solutions, announced that it would acquire all the equity of the Japanese company Pioneer with an equity value of 163.6 billion yen (approximately RMB 8.115 billion).
Pioneer is a supplier of audio electronics, vehicle navigation and other multimedia software and hardware solutions to global OEMs and consumer aftermarkets. It exited the optical storage business, which was once one of its core businesses, in April this year.
Hong Jinyang, Chairman and CEO of Innolux Group and Chairman of CarUX, said that this acquisition will bring strategically significant synergy benefits to both CarUX and Pioneer:
Ca
rUX will leverage Pioneer's existing Japanese and global OEM cooperation foundation to rapidly expand its market territory, especially entering the supply chain of Japanese automakers that was difficult to penetrate in the past. At the same time, Pioneer's professional capabilities in car audio and HMI system software development will also complement CarUX's leading position in display and touch technology to jointly create a complete smart cockpit integration platform. In addition, through the integration of the two parties' global R&D and manufacturing bases, CarUX will be able to respond more quickly to the local needs of global OEM customers.
