Therefore, LED product performance measurement technology and testing equipment have developed rapidly internationally in recent years. In my country, with the rapid development of the LED industry, the innovation capabilities of testing technology and equipment have significantly improved, and a series of advanced testing equipment has been launched to meet the current urgent needs of the industry; especially in the optical and energy efficiency testing of LED products, spatial light distribution measurement of lamps, accelerated test testing of life, and photobiological radiation safety testing, internationally competitive advanced testing equipment has been developed.
1. Optical and energy efficiency testing of LED products
In the performance testing of LED products, temperature control is very important. According to relevant domestic and foreign standards, LED devices generally control the junction temperature or the hot spot temperature of the housing; for LED modules, the hot spot temperature on the module heat sink is controlled; and for LED application products, the ambient temperature is used as the benchmark. Therefore, in the optical and energy efficiency testing of LED products, the temperature control method in the test equipment is very important for LED devices, modules and application products.
Some LED products have relatively strong beam directivity. When measured in an integrating sphere, the beam projection area and screen position are relatively sensitive. The IESNALM79 standard and the CIE127 technical report have stipulated that it is recommended to use a sphere inner wall coating material with a higher spectral reflectance. NIST in the United States is at the forefront of the world in promoting international LED standard testing methods and has also put forward extremely high requirements for testing equipment. The constant-temperature integrating sphere in Figure 1 is an LED standard testing equipment developed by Zhejiang University Sanse Company for the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology NIST. It can realize constant temperature testing of three types of LED products, including LED devices, modules, and application products.
2. Spatial light distribution detection of LED lamps and lamps
A goniophotometer is a photometric measurement device that measures the spatial luminous intensity distribution of light sources and lamps. Figure 2 is the principle structure of a reflector goniophotometer recommended in the CIE70 technical document of the International Commission on Illumination. The reflector always rotates around the central axis. A series of stray light elimination diaphragms can be accurately set between the reflector and the photometric detector to eliminate stray light very effectively. Because this goniophotometer is more suitable for spatial light distribution measurement of various complex beams, it has been adopted by more than 100 laboratories around the world and is currently the most used. Several national laboratories in my country have also adopted this reflector goniophotometer.
In recent years, with the rapid development of LED technology, the spatial light distribution measurement of LED products has attracted more and more international and domestic attention. Compared with traditional light sources and lamps, LED lighting products often have more complex beam distributions and may have certain spatial chromaticity differences. Therefore, new requirements are put forward for the spatial light distribution measurement of LED products. It is not only necessary to test the spatial light intensity distribution of LEDs, but also to measure the spatial chromaticity non-uniformity distribution. In addition, for many laboratories, space and space restrict the application of high-performance equipment. In order to save space, our country has also developed a goniophotometer using two reflectors.
3. Photobiological radiation safety testing and assessment of LED products
With the development of photobiological research, the issue of light radiation safety has attracted more and more attention. Especially with the rapid development of LED in recent years, the power and external quantum efficiency of the chip have been greatly improved. High-power blue LED chips have been widely used in the field of general lighting. The development of high-power multi-chip integration and secondary optical technology has made the hazards of LED light radiation more concerning. The safety assessment of retinal light radiation damage in the human eye requires measurement of the radiant brightness of 300nm to 700nm blue light photochemical hazards and the radiant brightness of 380nm to 1400nm retinal thermal hazards, and must meet measurement conditions similar to the structure of the human eye, which puts forward higher requirements for testing technology and equipment. Figure 4 is an LED photobiological radiation safety test device based on a human eye retinal radiometer established by Chinese experts at the National Institute of Standards and Technology NIST. Figure 5 is my country’s LED photobiological radiation safety detection and evaluation system with independent intellectual property rights. It is mainly used for optical radiation safety testing and grade evaluation of optical radiation sources in various non-laser light sources, lamps and electrical products. my country not only takes the lead in LED photobiological radiation safety measurement methods
International standardization activities and corresponding testing equipment are also among the best in the world.
