On May 12, 2026, the Shanghai Lighting Electrical Appliances Industry Association officially released two group standards for age-appropriate lamps - T/SIEATA 000006.1-2026 "Age-appropriate lamps Part 1: General requirements and tests", T/SIEATA 000006.2-2026 "Age-appropriate lamps Part 2-1: Special requirements" Integrate fall auxiliary monitoring lamps" and implement them simultaneously. Among them, "Aging-friendly Lamps Part 1: General Requirements and Tests" was compiled under the leadership of Shanghai Times Lighting Electrical Appliance Testing Co., Ltd., marking that domestic aging-friendly lighting products finally have a unified general technical standard.
With the arrival of an aging society, home lighting is no longer just about “illuminating”. The elderly have declining vision and slow movements. The flicker, glare, uneven illumination of ordinary lamps, and even unreasonable switch design may cause health hazards or safety risks. Previously, the "aging-friendly lamps" on the market lacked unified specifications, and the product quality was uneven, making it difficult for consumers to distinguish between good and bad. The release of this standard is to set rules for the industry and draw a bottom line for consumers.
As the leading unit of this general standard, Shanghai Times Light relied on the advantages of the national lighting testing platform to lead the entire standard's technical framework construction, indicator verification, and polishing of terms: it collaborated with industry experts to sort out the core technical indicators that adapt to the physiological characteristics of the elderly; it carried out a large number of laboratory verifications to ensure that each requirement is scientific and implementable; it linked enterprises and elderly care institutions to take into account both technological advancement and scenario practicality.
We always believe that the core of aging-friendly lighting is “safety” and “comfort”.
From limiting flicker and controlling glare to strengthening safety protection against electric shock and tipping, every item of the standard responds to the real needs of the elderly.
The release of these two standards forms a complete system of "general requirements + special scenarios":
Part 1, "General Requirements and Tests," establishes a common threshold for all aging-friendly lamps, so that "aging-friendly" is no longer a marketing gimmick; Part 2-1 focuses on integrated fall auxiliary monitoring lamps, and puts forward targeted technical requirements for high-risk fall scenarios at home.
In the future, Shanghai Times Light will continue to promote the implementation of standards, provide technical training, testing and certification services for enterprises, and help more compliant and high-quality aging-friendly lamps enter thousands of households, making every lamp a "guardian" for the safety of the elderly's homes.
