Vuzix announces additional orders for Z100 MicroLED smart glasses

Recently, foreign media reported that on June 30, Vuzix, an American supplier of AR glasses and optical waveguide technology, announced that the company’s Vuzix Z100 smart glasses product had received an additional purchase order from the start-up TranscribeGlass.

It is reported that Vuzix Z100 smart glasses were officially launched in November last year. The glasses weigh only 38 grams, which is equivalent to a pair of standard glasses and are comfortable to wear. It can be used for 48 hours on a single charge, providing users with long-lasting battery life support.

In terms of display technology, Vuzix Z100 is equipped with a single green Micro LED display provided by JBD, and an additional optical waveguide is used as an optical solution. The display resolution of the glasses is 640*480, the field of view is 30°, and the screen aspect ratio is 4:3.

It is reported that TranscribeGlass integrated its self-developed software with Vuzix Z100 smart glasses to create a glasses product suitable for the hearing-impaired. Users can see real-time subtitles of conversations directly on the glasses display. The retail price of this product is US$377.

According to data, Vuzix is ​​a smart glasses company founded in 1997. It has launched a variety of smart glasses using new display technologies such as OLED and Micro LED.

In terms of the application of Micro LED technology, in addition to the Vuzix Z100 model, Vuzix also launched Micro LED AR glasses products such as Ultralite S and Vuzix Shield.
