ams and Osram further optimize infrared laser products to meet the needs of high-end 3D sensing applications

May 27 - Ams-OSRAM (SIX: AMS), the world's leading optical solutions provider, announced today that as the demand for 3D sensing technology continues to grow in modern applications such as industrial robot environment sensing, multi-modal face recognition, object detection and machine vision, ams-OSRAM has officially launched two innovative products based on vertical cavity surface emitting laser (VCSEL) core technology - BIDOS® P3435 Q BELAGO 1.2 Spot projector and BIDOS® P2433 Q/V105Q121A-850 flood projector.

BIDOS® P3435 Q BELAGO 1.2 spot projector uses a 940 nm wavelength light source, integrates an infrared vertical cavity surface emitting laser (VCSEL), advanced optical components and industrial-grade protective structure to provide key solutions for 3D sensing systems based on active stereo vision (ASV) and structured light (SL) technology. The high-density spot pattern generated by this component (a total of 15,000 independent light points) helps build accurate depth maps, allowing industrial robots or unmanned transportation systems to automatically detect and avoid obstacles in various lighting environments, and support real-time target tracking. Compared with the previous generation product, the new version launched by ams and Osram has achieved significant improvements in 3D sensing accuracy. Its compact package (4.2 mm x 3.6 mm x 3.3 mm) also gives customers greater flexibility in space configuration and function integration.

BIDOS® P2433 Q/V105Q121A-850 flood light projector is an integrated VCSEL component mainly used in aircraft Time-of-Flight (ToF) ranging solutions and 3D sensing applications that require uniform ambient lighting fill-in light. This module integrates a VCSEL emitter and a photodiode designed for human eye safety into an ultra-small package of only 3.3 mm x 2.4 mm x 1.2 mm. It not only maintains good assembly convenience, but also provides a high degree of freedom for end product design. The newly launched 850 nm wavelength version further expands the BIDOS® P2433 Q floodlight projector product series. This wavelength specification helps improve camera sensitivity, thereby achieving higher precision detection performance. The built-in photodiode can also be easily introduced as an eye safety mechanism.
