The South Korean government plans to increase investment in facilities and R & D efforts to fight in 2012 to become the world's three largest producer of semiconductor light-emitting diodes.
The South Korean government said the day before, the plan calls for the government to invest 400 billion won in this period of time to research and infrastructure ($383 million). Currently, South Korea LED manufacturers are about 3 trillion won to upgrade and build new production lines. At present, the annual output value of Korean LED products is about $1 billion 200 million.
South Korean government officials said that the government will assist in the establishment of a scale of 50 billion won in 2009 to purchase funds to promote the production and application of LED.
LED products than traditional lighting equipment to save electricity 80%, and thus more environmentally friendly. In recent years, information technology, digital equipment and medical equipment and other areas of the demand for such products increased significantly.
