According to Taiwan Economic Daily, AUO Chairman Peng Shuanglang announced that Micro LED will begin mass production this year and be introduced into wearable devices.
Peng Shuanglang pointed out that the LED displays produced by AUO have exceeded NT$100 million (currently about 22.5 million yuan), and are expected to grow several times every year in the future.
According to reports, AUO will launch commercialized Micro LED wearable devices this year, and will also introduce them for TVs and cars in the future. At present, more than half of the automotive displays developed by AUO in cooperation with car manufacturer customers are barebones orders, which can increase its future operations several times.
Looking into the future, AUO predicts that AUO’s two technology platforms, AmLED and FIDM, are expected to contribute more than 50% of automotive revenue growth in the next 2-3 years.
In addition, AUO said it will continue to control capital expenditures in 2023, which will be slightly lower than last year’s NT$36 billion to NT$35 billion (currently about NT$7.875 billion). It will mainly be used in high-end production capacity such as Micro LED new technology platform to upgrade it from technical preparation to quasi-mass production investment.
