BOE (BOE) has developed a 5 inch AMQLED display product.

Recently, BOE (BOE) has developed a 5 inch active electroluminescent quantum dot light emitting display (AMQLED) product, which is the result of the project sponsored by BOE (Beijing Eastern), which is the key research and development project of quantum dot luminescent display, which is sponsored by the Ministry of science and technology. Unlike LCD backlight, using the quantum dot material to expand the gamut, the product directly uses the inkjet printing process to produce the electrogenerated quantum dot light emitting device (QLED) to achieve full color display, and the gamut is more than 100%.

Quantum dots are small semiconductor crystals with only a few atoms. The quantum dots can be excited and emit light after absorbing energy, and they can emit different colors of light by controlling the size of quantum dots. Based on this characteristic, quantum dots technology is mainly used in quantum dot backlight technology and active quantum dot light emitting diode (AMQLED).

LCD products themselves can not light up, and need LED as backlight to display. The QDs TV appeared in the early market, which is LCD TV with quantum dot backlight technology. Quantum dot backlight technology is using quantum dot material instead of the phosphor emitting layer in the traditional LED backlight to make the LED backlight with a quantum film. Its display color is more than 30% higher than that of the traditional LED backlight TV.

Compared with the quantum dot backlight technology, the active electroluminescent quantum dot light emitting display (AMQLED) does not need backlight, and the injection current can make the quantum dot light emitting. The structure of the display device is similar to that of the active organic light-emitting diode (AMOLED). Although the light source is different, the AMQLED will emit light source from the organic light-emitting material. The material is replaced by inorganic quantum dots, but compared to AMOLED, AMQLED is generally considered to have the potential advantages of long life, wide color gamut and low cost. It is widely considered to be a more disruptive display technology after AMOLED, especially in the field of large scale active light emitting display.

At present, the development of quantum dot technology is still in its infancy. According to the analysis of the industry, quantum dots will not only bring disruptive improvement to display technology, but will also have broad application prospects in the fields of biological science and solar cells, and will be one of the core technology directions to change the future of mankind.
