GreenPix is located in the Beijing West Fourth Ring Road beside the media facade by Simon Giostra studio (architects: Simone Giostra & Partners, Inc.) and Arup co design, with the capital of the first zero energy media Facade "reputation. It is the world's largest color LCD screen, and has China's first integrated into the glass curtain wall photoelectric system. The whole building absorbs solar energy during the day, and uses it to illuminate the screen in the evening, so as to operate in a self-sufficient energy organization model, and reflect the changes of climate and environment. The entire media facade consists of 2292 color (RGB) LED light-emitting points, equivalent to an area of 24000 square feet (2200m2) of large dynamic content display screen. Because the building is on the main road, 90% people will see it from the car, and this wall is like a giant outdoor billboards. But the architects hope that the media curtain wall can become a work of art. Large screen and unique low resolution enhance the abstract visual effects of the media, compared to the traditional media on the screen of the high resolution screen business applications, GreenPix provides an artistic form of communication. Architects Simon and Arup have developed a new technology for laminating photovoltaic units into glass curtain walls, and the first batch of solar panels made by Chinese manufacturers. The number of solar panels on the surface of the glass panels is different, some covered with the entire glass plate, and some only around the periphery of a week, and some do not even. Around a week and no solar panel glass plate will rotate different angles, designers hope that through such irregular changes, coupled with the glass plate angle slightly tilted, the facade looks more vivid and rich. The concept comes from the water, and the light is projected on the facade to form a change that produces a force of water, and this is in line with a marine fish restaurant. A RGB 3 color LED component is installed behind each sheet of glass, each of which can be individually programmed to control the generation of images and video. Maximum output power for each LED component is 9W. This project is the biggest challenge lies in the glass plate, solar panels and LED together organically, and how to ensure the realization of the concept of zero energy and can achieve the visual effect of art. The designer uses advanced computer simulation technology, and then choose a variety of glass materials and LED products were tested, and created a model to ensure that the selected materials and products to meet the requirements of performance and effect. The model is made up of 9 or 12 glass panels that are actually used in the project and is of equal size. In such aspects, designers pay particular attention to between the light output of solar glass plate and LED products received the balance, while the number of solar panels is determined at an early stage, so designers need to know LED products available light output light is much, and the solar panel can collect how much energy. To maximize the use of solar energy at the same time, to achieve the hope of showing the visual effects. The image on the curtain wall will often be replaced: both the electronic work of the invited artist, and the image produced by the thermal energy emitted by the body. GreenPix media facade is the world's largest color LCD screen by surface of the smart skin is building internal and external public space to interact building entrance abstract patterns make the media curtain wall is more like a work of Art
