Strategy Technology (The UK Technology Board, TSB) announced the funding of 12 innovative research projects to accelerate the development of more energy-efficient lighting products, laser and display. The program is designed to help British manufacturers stay ahead of international competition and contribute to climate change in the uk.
These projects will promote the development and collaboration between industry and industry, including more energy-efficient LED, laser diodes, white-light fibre lasers and holographic optics. There are also projects that incorporate emerging technologies and existing technologies into working systems.
The total value of 12 projects of more than 15 million 500 thousand pounds, about 7000000 pounds with the technology strategy board, engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (The Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council, ESPRC) is one of 5 projects contributed nearly 1 million pounds.
Among them, some LED project profile is as follows:
Title: twenty-first Century LED lighting profile: a new insulation ultra-thin GaN LED, light output reached 95%, can be used for general lighting applications. Collaborators: PhotonStar LED, University Cambridge of (University of Cambridge)
Brief introduction of the next generation of low cost holographic optical elements: the development of the British side lighting products used in the past, the use of silver halide holographic optical components, advanced LED as a light source. This will increase the luminous efficiency of the LED lighting screen from 45% to 90%, and will save a lot of energy. Partner: Harman Technology Ltd, De Montfort University (demontfort), Concord (Part of HavELls-Sylvania)
The use of high power LED backlight module to improve the performance of the display screen profile: through the use of high-performance LED modules and emerging optical systems to improve the performance of the display screen image. Partner: GE aviation systems (GE Aviation Systems), University of Greenwich (University of Greenwich), University of Abertay Dundee (University of Abertay Dundee), the National Physical Laboratory (National Physical Laboratory), Thin Film Solutions Ltd, Raymarine PLC, NCR Financial Solutions Group Ltd, Design LED Products Ltd
