Chongqing LED lighting industry alliance director Chen Weiming said, the day the driver entered the tunnel, the tunnel is much higher than the brightness of the light outside the tunnel, if the tunnel is long enough, the driver saw a hole is dark, this is the "black hole" phenomenon; if the tunnel is very short, the emergence of a "black the box in front of the driver will". Such a phenomenon is called "adaptive lag phenomenon", which can be seen from the bright outside into the tunnel, and the vision can be seen after a certain period of time. In addition, in the middle section of the tunnel, the smoke emitted by the automobile is formed and the light of the automobile headlamp is absorbed and scattered by the smoke. The tunnel exit is much brighter than the tunnel interior, the driver will have a strong glare, prone to accidents.

Therefore, the tunnel lighting is not ordinary street lighting, should change with the light outside the tunnel changes, Chen Weiming said: for example, outside the tunnel is the sun, the tunnel lighting may be 1000 watts. By night, tunnel lighting may be as long as 10 watts. After the investigation, as long as the tunnel is longer than 3 km or longer than the road is longer than 5 km, the installation of LED lamps and ordinary sodium lamp price is almost the same as the corresponding cables, power distribution boxes, transformers and other power supply facilities greatly reduced.
