Trichromatic theory
At the beginning of nineteenth Century, Yang (Young) and Herm Holtz (Helmholt Century Art), as figure 4.1 shown above the left, red, green and blue in proper proportion can be synthesized in a variety of colors, photoreceptors in the retina of eyes with figure 4.1 right above figure may be sensitive to red, green and blue three the color of the photoreceptor, accept the ratio of different color stimulus decided to see the colors, this is the Yang Yi Herm Holtz trichromatic theory.
However, this theory can not explain why we can not see the phenomenon such as red, green, blue, yellow and so on.
Two, anti color theory
At the end of the nineteenth Century, Huai (Hering) put forward the theory of anti color. Figure 4.1 left below, that can against the color perception mechanism of red and green or blue and yellow color of the color vision system of human relative, Horwich (H V at - ICH) and Gamoson (Jameson), of the red and green, the monochromatic yellow and blue color response in the view of opposition the right side, as shown in Figure 4.1 below, confirmed its agreement with the color of the psychological color perception.
Three, stage theory
The above two kinds of theories on the various methods of color have a correct explanation, have their own merits. In the early twentieth Century, Chris (von Kries) put forward the theory of the two aspects of the function of the eyes. It is believed that there are three kinds of photoreceptors in the light receiving stage, and the response of them in the next stage of the process of addition and subtraction to produce a response to the theory of color.
