Development of red light phosphor by Fujian Taiwan cooperation in white light LED

The reporter learned from the Fujian Institute of science and technology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences that the Chen Xueyuan research group, in collaboration with the Liu Ruxi research group of National Taiwan University, successfully prepared a new high efficient and warm white light LED red phosphor using the method of ion exchange for the first time.

It is reported that the white light LED has become the next generation of lighting devices because of its energy saving, environmental protection and long life. At present, the commercialized white light LED mainly uses blue light chip to stimulate the YAG:Ce3+ yellow phosphor. But the red light component in the emission spectrum of this device is not enough, it is difficult to obtain the warm white light device with low color temperature and high color index, which restricts its application in indoor general lighting. In order to solve this problem, it is necessary to add a suitable red light phosphor in the device to supplement the red light component, while the high performance and low cost red phosphor is still very short.

The red light phosphor prepared by the team is suitable for the excitation of blue light chip. The luminescence efficiency at room temperature is up to 98%, which is better than most of the existing red phosphor, and has good fluorescence thermal stability. At the same time, the developed ion exchange preparation process is simple and can be prepared at room temperature and atmospheric pressure. The raw material is cheap, so it has a good market prospect. It is understood that the research has been published online in the famous international journal of natural communications and has applied for 2 Chinese patent patents.
