There are more than 2500 street lamps on the main and secondary roads of AAU district with LED lamps and lanterns. Mass use of municipal facilities LED technology to brighten the landscape of Sucheng
The world's first commercial LED was developed in 1965, and in Suzhou, large quantities of LED for municipal facilities were more than 40 years later.
In 2008, Suzhou started the renovation of the ancient city river landscape, the first LED lights began to replace the original use of sodium lamp, halogen lamp and other light source lamp; in 2009, the urban building landscape lighting began to replace the LED light; after that, the newly built buildings, landscape facilities and other lighting basically use LED lighting technology. At present, the urban landscape lighting, in addition to a small number of floodlights also use halogen lamp or high pressure sodium lamp, almost all of the LED lamps and lanterns, accounting for more than 90%.
"Now, the application of LED lamps and lanterns in landscape lighting is very common. The popularity of street lamps is not as good as the "bottleneck" in the high specification of the landscape lighting.
Compared with the common use of LED lamps and lanterns in landscape lighting, LED is still in the transition stage from demonstration and attempt to the gradual promotion and application in the field of road lighting.
From 2007, Suzhou City Lighting Management in some branches of the district began to try a small number of manufacturers' LED products; in 2009, the first pilot installed 10 LED street lamps on the Pingjiang Xincheng River on the road, and carried out the tracking test. At present, nearly 2500 LED road lamps have been installed in nearly 30 roads in the District of Suzhou. In September this year, the Department also installed more than 3700 sets of LED guardrail lights on the ramp of the southeast Ring Interchange. Why is the popularity rate of LED technology in street lights far less than landscape lighting?

LED lighting technology has been recognized by all countries as the most potential efficient lighting industry. It is called after the incandescent, fluorescent and high pressure gas discharge lamps, and another revolution in the field of lighting. In addition to urban lighting, LED technology has been widely used in the fields of automobile lighting, traffic signal, multimedia imaging, optical fiber communication and so on.
