Everlight: Automotive Mini LED backlight is expected to grow rapidly this year

Everlight, a major LED manufacturer, recently held a legal meeting. According to participating legal persons after the meeting, the company predicts that revenue will continue to be weak until the first quarter of 2023. However, revenue is expected to pick up from the second quarter, and full-year revenue in 2023 is expected to be flat or slightly higher than this year.

Yiguang said that the liquidation process of WOFI is in progress, and relevant revenue will not be recognized starting from this quarter. This part will have less impact on revenue in 2023. It is currently in the inventory clearance stage. Some non-industry losses will be recognized this quarter, and the gross profit margin will be lower than the previous quarter.

The market is also paying attention to industry inventory dynamics. Everlight said that the current LED upstream inventory situation is still difficult, and the progress of depletion depends on when end consumption can pick up. At this stage, downstream EMS manufacturers believe that inventory levels are showing signs of decline, and the overall expectation is that inventories will gradually return to healthy levels in the first half of 2023.

Everlight pointed out that among all business segments in 2023, it is optimistic about the demand for automotive backlights and mid-to-high-end optocouplers. Invisible light products are expected to grow at double digits, while consumer electronics and mobile phones are expected to grow slightly. However, lighting will continue to decline. Everlight’s invisible light revenue accounts for about 35%, lighting 7%, backlights 20%, consumer electronics and mobile phones 32%, and others.

From an application perspective, Everlight pointed out that automotive MiniLED backlight is expected to grow exponentially in 2023, and its revenue share will grow to 50%. In terms of VR layout, the current market share of major customers is more than 50%.
