Nichia, the world's leading LED manufacturer, has been focusing on the wide application of advanced and innovative LED technologies. TrendForce had the honor to interview Kei Haraguchi, deputy general manager of the Lighting Business Planning Department of Nichia Optoelectronic Products Business Group, to share the company’s advanced technological progress on its latest module product, Nichia Light Cluster™ Type L.
Haraguchi said that Nichia is committed to providing high-quality products and working hard for social welfare and sustainable development. Sustainable development aims to promote environmental friendliness and energy conservation. To this end, Nichia launches Nichia Light Cluster™ Type L, which is easy to install and has high light quality without glare. The advantage is that it can be made into the thinnest and lightest lighting product.
Nichia Light Cluster™ Type L has an extremely wide bat-shaped directional design and can be used in ultra-thin lamps, with a thickness of only one-third of traditional products. In addition, a thinner design not only means that the lamp will become lighter, but also can reduce the materials used in the lamp product itself and installation/support, and the installation method of the lamp can also be changed accordingly. The lightweight light fixture requires only springs or magnets to support it, saving more than half the installation time. In terms of saving material usage and installation time, the above advantages can contribute to social sustainability. In addition, the ultra-wide light distribution design allows the lamps to project soft light covering the entire space to achieve comfortable ambient lighting.

OD is the optical distance, which refers to the distance between the surface of the circuit board and the internal surface of the diffusion plate.
It was mentioned in the interview that Nichia Light Cluster™ Type L provides selectable and controllable relative color temperature (2,700-5,000K) and high color rendering (Ra ≥90). Nichia Light Cluster™ Type L enables lamps to achieve high consistency, high width, smoothness and softness in light quality without problems such as glare or bright spots. In terms of future market applications, the LED lighting module can be applied to panel lights, linear lights, wall lights, artificial/indirect lighting and other markets in buildings. Currently, Light Cluster™ Type L modules have been actually used in the Japanese lighting market and have officially entered the global lighting market.
Looking into the future of the lighting market, Haraguchi said that Nichia will continue to help lighting manufacturers reduce the size of lamps and provide LED products with no glare, no bright spots, easy to use and highly consistent quality.
