The reason for the selection of Spirulina is the green color of spirulina, and the absorbability of light, and its edible (powder can be added into the food). The two designers took advantage of the traits of spirulina, put them in alkaline medium, and put them in a glass container like a fish bowl. With the combination of waste heat, light, and carbon dioxide, spirulina produces photosynthesis and gives out green light.

These large, different hand - blown glass bottles provide light and heat for indoor people, and they are also a high performance photo bioreactor that can heat, light, air, replenish nutrients and control metabolites for the algae inside.

Working principle and process

The designer puts Spirulina in a wide variety of large glassware of different shapes, which can be suspended or placed in the living room and dining room for lighting and decoration, through light for photosynthesis, and a fresh and pleasant green light in different corners of the room. Find an unattractive place to install a control system and connect each lamp with water pipes and cables. And this control center controls the circulation system of each lamp.

3D printed nylon pistons are opened on the desktop and can be used to control the flow of the system. When the liquid concentration is high enough, these 18 valves can be opened to collect Spirulina or to recharge fresh liquid. In the wooden case below, it is the core of the whole supply system, such as pipes, pumps, air pumps, LED drives, filter systems, heaters and so on.

Such a set of microalgae photosynthesis light using waste heat and carbon dioxide, not only can make the whole interior decoration look fresh and natural, but also special environmental protection and energy saving. If it can be effectively developed, we believe that it will bring great contribution to the human society. The two designer's purpose is to let the public focus on the power of microbes to make this resource develop.
