Jingdian’s brilliant combination is recognized by the Taiwan Fair

The Taiwan Fair Committee yesterday (27th) reviewed the merger application submitted by two major LED manufacturers, Epistar and Canyuan, and agreed to proceed with the entire case. The Fair Association pointed out that the LED industry is mainly for export. Epistar and Canyuan have at least more than 20 competing manufacturers, and the industry is in a state of considerable competition. Each of the two companies is a chip manufacturer or a vertical manufacturer, with different business and competitive strategies. In addition, the chip products produced by competing manufacturers have different application markets. It is estimated that the combination of the two companies will not have any concerns about restricting competition.
Furthermore, most of the competitors and upstream and downstream transaction partners of the two companies have positive opinions on the merger, or say it will have no significant impact. The Ministry of Economic Affairs also expressed positive comments on the merger, believing that it will help enhance the competitiveness of Taiwan's LED industry. The fair will consider that most LED raw materials currently rely on imports. The combination of the two companies is expected to improve their bargaining power with upstream manufacturers, reduce R&D and operating costs, strengthen competitiveness with major international manufacturers, and have positive benefits for the overall economy of Taiwan. The overall economic benefits of the entire case will outweigh the negative benefits of restricting competition, so their application is approved in accordance with the Fair Trade Act.
Epistar will launch a merger in the near future. After the merger, the new Epistar will be able to secure its leadership position as the world's leader in LED epitaxial wafers and chips.
