Jingneng Optoelectronics introduced that the company uses independently innovative GaN-based LED technology on silicon substrates to undertake the development of key common technologies for silicon-based Micro LEDs, providing high-performance Micro LED light source products for virtual reality hardware - AR glasses, and assisting the launch of ultra-small and thin AR glasses.
It is reported that due to its optimism about the application prospects of GaN-based Micro LEDs on silicon substrates in the AR/VR industry, Jingneng Optoelectronics began the research and development of silicon-based Micro LEDs as early as 2018 and has made many breakthroughs.
In 2020, Jingneng Optoelectronics launched 8-inch silicon substrate InGaN red light epitaxy technology, and is still continuing research and development to improve InGaN red light efficiency; in September 2021, Jingneng Optoelectronics successfully prepared a silicon substrate InGaN red, green, and blue three-primary color Micro LED array with a pixel pitch of 25 microns and a pixel density of 1000PPI. At present, the important technical indicator of pixel pitch has been reduced to 8 microns.

It is revealed that Jingneng Optoelectronics’ strip-driven three-color Micro LED display module will be released later this year. With the amplification of Micro LED technology and cost advantages, it is expected to accelerate its large-scale commercial use in large-screen, near-eye display, automotive and other fields.
