LED efficiency breakthrough! "Zero defect" new semiconductor materials have come out

Recently, a multinational research team composed of Li Sicen, a major headmaster of the front desk and He Zhihao, a former professor at Taida Electronics Institute, has successfully developed a new semiconductor material called "zero defect". It is expected to greatly improve the LED luminescence efficiency.

The team is composed of Professor AliJavey, Abdullah, Professor He Zhihao of the University of California, Berkeley, Abdullah, He Zhihao, and the front desk principal Li Sicen. The paper has already been published. The co first author of the paper, Lian de Xuan, is a blogger of the Tai Da motor department, and just completed the doctoral test in 2015. I also got a scholarship from the IEEE of the international electronics semiconductor society, which will graduate in this study.

The multinational research team of the Taiwan University points out that the thinner the past semiconductor materials are, the physical defects of their own will have a negative impact on the availability of electronic and optoelectronic components. At present, the research team has found a simple method to repair defects, and constructs a high quality single layer two-dimensional semiconductor material MoS2. There is no problem of high defect density in the past two dimensional material. It is expected to improve the efficiency of LED luminescence in the future, and later, it will be one of the most important material choice in the ultramicro semi conductor components.

According to the research team, the material can develop transparent, flexible high performance LED displays, as well as ultra efficient solar power components, as well as high sensitivity optical detection components, and lower power nanoscale transistors.

LEDinside examines the content of their papers and publications. The research team infiltrates molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) in imide (bistriflimide) organic superacid, which can greatly improve the quantum efficiency of the two-dimensional material, the limit of lifting, from the effect of less than 1%, to close to 100%, In other words, it's nearly doubling, so some media reports say that LED's luminous efficiency can be raised by 100 times, which is the wrong description, not true.

The material will be commercialized, and it is expected that there will be some time to wait and see that better optoelectronic and semiconductor materials are expected to benefit the population and industry.
