OLED and LED, in terms of the difference of one letter, have a qualitative difference. As the ideal material for the next generation of lighting, the potential market for OLED is very huge. Yes, that's the bottom thing.
Brief introduction of OLED Technology
OLED, known as an organic light emitting diode, also known as electromechanical laser display, was found in the laboratory by Chinese American professor Deng Qingyun, the patent of the technology owned by Kodak.
OLED technology has the characteristics of self luminescence, using very thin organic material coating and glass substrate. When the current passes, the organic materials will glow, and the OLED displays a large visual angle that can reach a maximum of 160 degrees and can save electricity.
Analysis of the growth trend of OLED
ElectroniCast Consultants, a California market research company, recently published a new market forecast report, which deeply analyzes the global consumption of OLED in the field of lighting applications.
According to the report, the global sales of OLED lighting in 2015 will reach $150 million, which is expected to grow at an average annual growth rate of 75%, and will reach $2 billion 400 million in 2020. By 2023, the total output value of OLED lighting is expected to soar to a maximum of $6 billion 700 million. Then, by 2025, it is expected to fall to $5 billion 500 million.
The report says that although OLED sales will fall after ten years of a sharp drop in average unit prices, sales are expected to continue to rise.
In this study, the analyst's definition of lighting includes general lighting and professional lighting such as orientation, supplement, building lighting, and OLED panels in cars, but does not include OLED for billboards, TV, displays, and signal lights.
OLED lighting will flourish in the next ten years
OLED lighting is environmentally friendly and mercury free, which is an ideal material for the next generation of lighting. Because of its ultra-thin, ultra light and low power consumption, it can be used as a surface light source, and OLED has a wide range of potential applications.
The industry has pointed out that the OLED lighting market will continue to grow across the light bulb, and will serve more applications in the future, which is not even in the envisaged stage at present.
OLED's future applications include windows or skylights, walls and ceilings, mirrors with lighting, floors, staircases, and other almost unlimited possibilities.
OLED ideas in other areas
At the end of 10 2014, the British science and technology research and development company proposed the development of "transparent aircraft" plan, using OLED technology on the aircraft fuselage, not only can allow passengers to see the scenery out of the window, even become touch screens, allowing passengers to enjoy the feeling of 360 degree full view, like soaring in the sky.
The British technology innovation center envisages a windowless aircraft with a OLED display. The enhanced lighting of the engine room comes from the luminous walls of the bulkhead, creating a unique travel atmosphere for the passengers. The flexible screen using OLED technology is extremely light, high quality and flexible embedded in the fuselage and seat backrest lining board, organically integrated, eliminating the heavy shell, and can display the images captured from the external camera of the aircraft in high definition. This is to optimize the space and reduce the weight of the aircraft, not only to reduce the cost, to make the fuselage lighter, stronger, more spacious, and less fuel consumption.
