Han Xiangfan also said that LGD plans to hit the highest 4 trillion won, in order to develop large-size OLED TV panel. LGD in South Korea to build the world's largest OLED panel plant has broken ground, is expected to put into operation in June 2018, in addition to the production of large OLED panels, will also be available to apple and other small panel customers.
For these reports, Samsung's response is not yet made a decision, large size OLED panel production schedule has not been determined. However, according to media reports in mid February, Samsung has ordered the first line of equipment suppliers to accelerate the development of the eight generation OLED panel plant required to prepare for the 2018 to enter the large-size OLED market.
The eight generation factory uses 2200mm * 2500mm glass substrate, can be cut into eight pieces of 47 inch panel or six pieces of 55 inch panel. Samsung had focused more on the phone with a small size OLED, so that the development of large scale technology behind schedule. But if the LGD has a dominant position to let go, Samsung will be the overall situation.
