Lumileds sued for patent infringement in Taiwan by LED vendors

American Lumileds company with Lighting light emitting diode (LED) related to patent infringement on the grounds, to the United States International Trade Commission (ITC:International Trade Commission) and Northern California Federal District Court, sued the League of Nations (UEC:United Epitaxy Co.) and photoelectric EPISTAR (Epistar) two large Taiwan LED manufacturers. The products of Lumileds company sued is Guolian photoelectric "MB" (Metal Bond) and "GB" (Glue Bond) and EPISTAR "OMA" (Omnidirectional Mirror Adhesion), these products are for the use of AlGaInP materials LED. Lumileds apply to ITC LED to the United States and banned the import of these products with these LED, and put forward to the Federal District Court in northern California, the League of nations and the photoelectric EPISTAR will continue to the future of the product patent infringement. AlGaInP material is now mainly used in high brightness red LED. Lumileds has provided the high brightness red LED patents to the League of nations and the photoelectric epistar. But the Lumileds believes that the patent infringement of the product is not within the scope of authorization.

Lumileds company accused Guolian photoelectric and EPISTAR is against the 3 United States patents: US5008718, US5376580, US5502316. Production process of these patents are involved in the LED chip, the LED technology is to be placed on the emitting part of crystalline layers of crystalline material by lattice constant close plate made of growth, and then remove the floor, then affixed to the light, easily through good conductive properties of another plate.
