Novaled Germany and France Saint Gobain jointly developed efficient organic EL lighting technology

[BP] the Nikkei news agency reported the German NovaLED AG and Saint Gobain (Saint-Gobain) announced jointly developed to make large area organic EL uniform and efficient luminescence technology (English released data). The efficient luminescence of organic EL was confirmed by using a new type of transparent electrode replacing ITO. Able to achieve low cost organic white EL lighting.

The transparent electrode "Silverduct" through the study of the combination of Saint Gobain - France Saint-Gobain Recherche development, EL technology and organic "Novaled PIN OLED", the homogeneous and efficiency higher than the original 30% white light. The maximum luminous area is 100cm2.

The maximum conductivity of transparent electrode is 10 times of ITO. Thin film resistor ITO is 30 ohms per square, while Silverduct is less than 4 / Omega. In order to achieve the number of ITO as electrode above cm large luminous panel, with thick metal mesh cover ITO layer to mitigate voltage gradient, otherwise it will produce uneven light, and the use of Silverduct is no longer needed metal mesh. In this way, in particular the bottom emitting organic EL panel, the opening rate is increased, but also the cost of setting up the metal mesh.
