There are 15,000 street lamps in Taitung City, and the city office is expected to replace one-tenth of them with LED lamps. It is estimated that each lamp can save half of the monthly electricity bill and save NT$200 (NT$). However, it must first spend NT$15 million to replace the lamps.
1,500 lamps will be replaced and paid in five years
Taitung City no longer subsidizes the installation costs of LED street lamps. The office must raise its own funds. It is currently considering entrusting manufacturers to replace them in five-year "installment payments".
The city's 15,000 street lights have incurred more expenses due to the increase in electricity prices. In February last year, the total monthly payment was 3.41 million yuan, and the same period this year was 4.13 million yuan. They also have to bear 8 million yuan in maintenance expenses every year.
