Singapore will reload 4000 LED street lamps

Since this month, 500 street lights in Singapore will be gradually replaced by LED lighting fixtures, with a total replacement of about 4000, and the entire replacement project is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2018. This street lamp replacement project is mainly located in the streets with low traffic flow and some residential areas. The number of lamps used in these streets is relatively low (between 70 and 150 watts). The replacement project will replace the high-pressure sodium vapor lamp that has been used for years to the LED lamp that can save more than 30%.

Before the lighting replacement project, Singapore's transportation department has carried out a LED lighting test for three years in Northumberland road and Tekka roadway. A total of 17 street lamps have been tested. The land transport bureau of Singapore is actively trying to use high wattage LED street lamps (over 250 watts) on main roads and highways. Since last August, the land traffic bureau has tested the energy efficiency, life span and stability of high wattage LED street lamps at Lorong 1 Toa Payoh, and is expected to complete the test in 2016.
