The IEEE802 Committee of the United States set up a research team to target optical communications

The IEEE802.15 Committee, which aims to promote the standardization of short-range wireless communication technology, has set up two new research teams (IEEE802). Are the visible light communication research group Visible Light Communications Interest Group (IGvlc), and terahertz (Terahertz Wave, referred to as THz wave) research group Terahertz Interest Group (IGthz)".

Among them, South Korea's Samsung Electronics and other requirements of the establishment of visible optical communications research group. Imagine using light-emitting diodes (LED), which will be used for mobile phones and notebook computers, such as inter device communication. Intel, AT&T and Research (Korea), South Korea, the United States proposed the establishment of THz wave research group in (University). The team will explore the feasibility of 300GHz to 10THz and other high frequency band related specifications.

The IEEE802.15 committee is scheduled to hold a joint meeting of two research teams from the "Interim Session" in, which will be held in Taiwan from January 13th to 18. If the conditions are met, the two research teams will be upgraded to Group (Task), which is actually a set of specifications.
