The US government asks citizens to decide the color temperature direction of the LED street light

The Gloucester times (Gloucester Times) reported that the Gloucester government in Massachusetts is currently seeking public opinion on the replacement of new LED street lights.

Local residents can participate in the test of two different LED lights. The development bureau is currently considering the applicability of different lighting fixtures. The government has installed 4 test street lamps, of which two are the warmer color, the color temperature 3000K LED lamp, and the other two are the LED lights of the color temperature 4000K.

Jim Coogan, the executive director of the Municipal Development Department, Matt Coogan, and Jim Destino, the executive director of the city, said that if the two LED lights were the same cost, the city government might follow the public's opinion and use a lower LED lamp. The citizens of the test included the local amateur astronomical society.

The Gloucester municipal government obtained ownership of 2800 road lights from the national Power Grid Corp (National Grid) in 2014 and plans to convert all street lights into LED street lights.

The Gloucester government has borrowed 1 million dollars (NT $32 million 420 thousand) in advance for the replacement plan, but hopes to get a green grant from the state government, as well as an award from the Power Grid Corp in the United States, to reduce the total cost to $340 thousand (NT $11 million 20 thousand).

The Gloucester Municipal Council estimates that the new lighting plan will reduce the electricity bill by $130 thousand a year (NT $4 million 210 thousand) per year, that is to say the whole street lamp replacement plan can be returned within less than 6 months. (compiling: Zhang Yahan, China LED)
