The United Arab Emirates banned inefficient lamps in July 1st

The order of the United Arab Emirates to ban the sale of inefficient lamps will take effect in July 1st. The move is expected to save 106 million 800 thousand pounds a year in energy costs. The ban is part of the UAE indoor lighting standard.

The main focus is to ban the inefficiency of incandescent light sources. The new standards will be based on environmental, safety and efficiency indicators. ?

Part of the standard also includes mercury limitation. No lamp, including compact fluorescent lamps or light-emitting diodes, will not enter the country with mercury content above the permitted level. ?

The ban will focus on the production and import of lighting products in the United Arab Emirates, which is expected to reduce 940000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions - equivalent to 165000 vehicle emissions.
