The Prime Minister of India opened the election in May 16, 2014, and the newly elected prime minister, Narendra Modi, promised to strive for investment in electricity, railway and other construction to improve India's economy, and plans to allow indoor lighting to be used by all households within five years, which will create business opportunities for LED and solar energy. In addition, Modi promised to install at least one bulb lamp per household by 2019.
According to the world bank, India, a country with second of the world's population, has an amazing energy demand, and this demand will double in 2020. At present, about 300 million of the population have failed to enjoy the benefits of the power grid, and 27% of the electricity is wasted due to technical failures. In 2012, 700 million people lived in an environment without electricity for two days, and it was also common in India. In addition, the electricity price in India is not cheap. Low income families can't afford to pay high costs and choose cheap but dangerous alternatives such as diesel generators.
Although Moody has not made it clear that LED lighting is part of his plan, it is clear that the India government has realized that LED is more energy-efficient than traditional lighting. In addition, Modi plans to expand the solar industry and promise to make India a vital solid state lighting market in the next few years. (/jasmine compiled by China LED network)
