The promotion progress is slow and it will take time for OLED TV to be popularized

Recently, the OLED product that has attracted the most attention is OLED TV. Due to its scalability, large viewing angle, and power saving, it is recognized by the industry as the next generation display technology. However, the extremely high price is prohibitive.
In addition to some small-screen products, the currently well-known large-screen OLED products are OLED TVs launched by home appliance companies represented by LG. We can’t help but ask, since OLED is the future display trend and has many excellent characteristics, why is OLED TV promoted slowly in China, and most home appliance companies only customize a few OLED TV prototypes instead of mass production. What are the "difficulties" in the growth of this "role"?
High price and low panel yield rate
Taking a 55-inch TV as an example, the current LG 55-inch OLED TV is priced at 29,999 yuan on JD.com, while the price of LED TVs from mainstream domestic brands such as Hisense, Skyworth, and TCL of the same size on JD.com ranges from 4,500 to 5,000 yuan. The price of OLED is about 6 times that of domestic LED TVs. This is bound to directly affect consumers' purchase of OLED TVs, and has naturally become the first major obstacle to the promotion of OLED TVs.
The yield rate is one of the important indicators of the maturity of mass panel production lines. Although LG Display executives who have the say in OLED panels recently revealed that "the OLED panel yield rate is now close to 70%," there are many doubts in the industry about this figure: "A year ago, the number was only more than ten percent. In one year, it increased to 70% unless major technical difficulties were overcome during the period, but the industry has not heard any relevant news."
The low yield rate directly leads to the high cost of OLED TVs. The end consumer market is naturally rising, and most consumers are still unable to accept the high prices.
The technology is not yet mature and the scale effect is not obvious
The OLED currently used in mobile phone displays can last for 5,000 to 10,000 hours, while OLED TVs must last for at least 30,000 to 50,000 hours. In addition, when you first use an OLED TV, image quality should not be a problem. The key is how long the high level of image quality can be maintained. Technical problems such as these still need to be overcome before OLED can make a qualitative leap.
With Sony and Panasonic announcing their withdrawal from OLED research and development, the OLED camp has slimmed down again. The withdrawal of Sony and Panasonic does not mean that they are not optimistic about the future of OLED, but because OLED technology is too difficult and the research and development of related technologies requires too much investment, which is undoubtedly unaffordable for companies whose TV business has been sluggish.
Without the brainstorming of many companies, it can be imagined how difficult it is to achieve breakthrough progress in promotion simply by relying on one or two companies. However, it is gratifying that Chinese companies will not be inferior in the OLED field in the future. BOE's 5.5-generation OLED panel line is about to be mass-produced, and CSOT's OLED line is also actively exploring.
The industry believes that OLED is the future display technology direction that the industry is paying attention to. At present, due to factors such as some key technologies, costs and low yield rates, large-scale application of panels and large-size industrialization still have a long process. It is expected that OLED technology will appear in parallel with the current mainstream TFT-LCD technology in the next 2-3 years, and OLED will not be able to replace LCD TVs in the short term.
