Recently, the World Trade Center (WTC) signed a $7 million 900 thousand energy saving contract with the port authority of New York and New Jersey, and will start more than 13000 new lighting fixtures.
The contract will help the port authority save about 6 million 400 thousand kwh of electricity annually and reduce more than 4700 tonnes of carbon emissions. It is estimated that the port authority will save over $715000 in the first year (about $4 million 970 thousand) and last for 10 years.
Constellation is responsible for the project, upgrading the current more than 13000 lighting facilities to LED, which not only saves energy, but also increases the service life of lamps and lanterns.
In addition, in the Oculus area, the "upward lighting" will be replaced by new red green dot lighting. Constellation will install lighting control to facilitate the world trade center maintenance personnel to decide their own color changes.
At present, Constellation has started the renovation work, which is expected to be completed by the end of 2019. The work in the crowded area will be carried out in the evening to avoid rush hour. (Editor: LED net James)
