The white light is the bright star of the lighting technology. The U.S. Department of energy (DOE) predicts that in 2020, the cost, efficiency and life index of OLED lighting will be with LED. But at present, the industry suffers from the short life of organic light-emitting blue phosphorous materials.

The OLED luminescent layer is mainly composed of red fluorescent material, green light material and blue phosphorous material, which is mixed into white light. The life decay of one kind of material will make the whole OLED fail, and how to overcome the different material life and become the challenge of industry.
The solution to the "blue light" of the Institute of engineering is that it does not use any blue light material, but uses technology to make green light as the source of blue light, thus developing the OLED surface plasmon coupling gain technology PCOLED (Plasmon-Coupled Organic LED).
At the beginning of the study, the Institute of industrial research was in the light of the green light materials. It was found that the green light made the impossible blue light. It made the Institute open a new research direction. Later, it used physical thinking to design the special structure of green light materials and constantly adjust the parameters. At last, using the DML structure to produce the plane type plasma coupling effect (Plasmon-Coupled), the luminescence spectrum of green light material can be converted into blue light, and the white light OLED can replace the traditional blue light material by green light material. Not only the problem of too short life can be solved, even more than 20 times longer than the traditional OLED.
In terms of efficiency, through continuous R & D and component optimization, the DML blue light efficiency has been able to exceed the existing blue light fluorescent materials and most of the known blue phosphor materials, and can reach 35cd/A. After the OLED DML white light technology is verified, the white light of 77 and 2039 K of color temperature can be used, and it can be used for indoor lighting, and the Institute has successfully lit up the white light module of 10 cmx10 cm.
At present, the Institute of industrial research has applied for patents in Taiwan, Germany, the United States and the mainland of China, and has worked with the folk industry to further master the key materials and process technology of OLED and move towards industrialization.
