On May 6, Samsung Electronics announced that in response to the rapidly changing market environment, after careful study, Samsung Electronics decided to stop selling all home appliances, including TVs and monitors, in the Chinese mainland market.
Products that Samsung has stopped selling in the Chinese market also include: large commercial monitors, air conditioners, refrigerators, washing machines, dryers, all-in-one washing and drying machines, clothing care machines, audio, projectors, vacuum cleaners, air purifiers and other household appliances.
Samsung stated that for users who have purchased its home appliances, it will continue to provide after-sales services in accordance with China’s Consumer Rights Protection Law and the National Three Guarantees to ensure that consumers’ legitimate rights and interests are not affected. It is worth noting that Samsung clearly emphasized that mobile phone products will continue to be sold normally in the Chinese market.
It is reported that in 1992, Samsung Electronics officially entered the Chinese market and built a factory. With its leading panel technology and high-end foreign brand image at the time, Samsung color TVs, refrigerators, washing machines and other products continued to lead the Chinese market.
+However, with the rise of China's local home appliance brands in recent years, Samsung Electronics' share of the Chinese home appliance market has been declining year by year.
+
+Take TV products as an example. In the past, Samsung TVs won market favor with their excellent display effects. However, in recent years, with the continuous growth of domestic LCD panel production capacity and technology, brands such as Hisense, TCL, Xiaomi, Skyworth, Changhong, and Konka have continued to bring cost-effective products to the domestic market, decentralized high-end display technologies such as Mini+LED, and continued to promote the development of super-large models. This has brought a lot of competitive pressure to the sales of Samsung's high-end TV models in the domestic market.
+
+As competition pressure in China’s home appliance market increases, Samsung Electronics’ relevant financial data continues to be under pressure. For the whole year of 2025, Samsung's visual display department and household appliances department responsible for the TV business suffered a total operating loss of 200 billion won, approximately RMB 945 million. This is the first annual loss since the establishment of this business segment.
