On Monday, South Korea Electronic Technology Research Institute (KERI) said that the South Korean scientists have developed a minimally invasive technique, this technique is targeted to tumor cells, through the use of light emitting diode (LED) and laparoscopy to diagnosis and treatment of cancer.
Recently, the diagnosis and treatment of minimally invasive methods, such as photodynamic therapy (PDT) and laparoscopy, can greatly improve the quality of life of patients, and it is developing rapidly.
PDT is a drug use photosensitizer for "activation" of a certain type of light to help promote a technical treatment. This technique is more effective, because only in the growth of cancer cells but not normal cells.
Korea Electronics Technology Institute (KERI) officials said, the development of KERI technology is the use of LED optical detection of cancer cells, but also the use of PDT technology based on laser laparoscopy to treat cancer.
KERI researchers Bae Su-jin said, "PDT is based on the treatment of laparoscopic treatment of the next generation, can have a significant impact on public health industry".
