LG says it could launch transparent OLED TVs as soon as 2024

According to Korean media reports, LGD made a proposal for a 55-inch transparent OLED TV to LG Electronics at the beginning of this year. Sources pointed out that due to the weak consumer electronics market, it will be difficult for transparent OLED to come out next year. LG Electronics will not have the opportunity to launch a transparent OLED TV until 2024 at the earliest.

Sources said that LG Electronics will launch a transparent OLED TV next year and will need to invest in product development in the second half of this year. However, there is currently no specific development plan. If it decides to launch a transparent OLED TV, the transparent OLED panel will be shipped with tempered glass on the outside. The recent slowdown in TV market demand is also one of the reasons for the delay in the progress of new products. TrendForce predicts that TV shipments this year will decrease by 3.9% last year, to only 220 million units, and are expected to drop another 1.4% to 199 million units next year. LCD panel prices have shown no signs of rebound, and the TV industry is unlikely to improve in the short term. Market expectations are that LG is likely to launch two transparent OLED TVs, 55-inch and 30-inch, targeting the general consumer market. RealityIn fact, the concept of transparent OLED has been launched by a brand as early as 2020. Xiaomi released the world's first 55-inch transparent OLED TV Mi Lux using an LG display panel at that time, but sales were poor. Information source: juheng.com
