Mandatory inspection of LED light bulbs “CNS certification” improves consumer safety

In order to provide consumers with greater safety and security when purchasing LED light bulbs, the Bureau of Standards, Inspection and Quarantine (BSMI) of the Ministry of Economic Affairs of Taiwan has implemented the "CNS Certification of Built-in Ballast LED Bulbs" compulsory inspection since July 1. LED power supply built-in products without BSMI certification are not allowed to be imported and produced.
BSMI Deputy Director Zhuang Suqin pointed out that there are many LED light bulb brands on the market with a dazzling array of products. How can consumers easily judge the quality of LED light bulbs from various manufacturers and take into account the safety of use? Therefore, "CNS certification" is the unified electromagnetic compatibility and safety standard for LED light bulbs. Passing CNS means that the product complies with the regulations, including: the safety regulations comply with international standards, the marked life hours have been inspected and complied with regulations, and the luminous efficiency complies with the allowable energy consumption standards of LED bulbs set by the Energy Administration.
Lin Qingyuan, chairman of the Lighting Association, said that the strength of Taiwan's LED lighting industry ranks sixth in the world and second in Asia. Compulsory certification CNS inspection will help reorganize the industry order. It not only ensures consumers can purchase and use with peace of mind, but also allows the international community to understand Taiwan's active control of product safety specifications and verification. He believes that both export and domestic sales companies can benefit. He calls on consumers to purchase light bulbs with "CNS certification" marked on them when purchasing light bulbs. In addition to contributing to energy conservation and carbon reduction, it also protects their own consumer rights.
Lin Xincheng, general manager of Osram's business unit, believes that consumers today buy many LED light bulbs on the market, with great differences in price, specifications and safety definitions. The "CNS certification" can effectively improve and maintain the safety of consumers using LED light bulbs.
Currently, companies that have passed the "CNS certification" include: Philips, Everlight, Canyuan, Osram, China Electric (East Asia Lighting), GE, Xuguang (Taiwan Lighting), Delta Electronics, Nanya Optoelectronics, Yazhuang, Yumanrong, Liming and Shenghua Technology (Otali), etc.
