Optimistic about vehicle lighting potential, OSRAM intends to expand Malaysian business portfolio

It is reported that OSRAM photoelectric semiconductor is optimistic about the market potential of automotive applications, and plans to expand its business portfolio in Malaysia, including the ongoing R & D creation and the donation of advanced equipment to four universities in Malaysia.

Ronald Mueller, chief executive of OSRAM photoelectric semiconductor, Malaysia, said that Malaysia's demand for truly high-end lighting applications is growing, such as vehicle headlamp, which we think is a huge business opportunity.

The equipment donated by OSRAM includes equipment for optics and semiconductor manufacturing, worth about 600 thousand US dollars (equivalent to RMB 4 million yuan). These devices will help four universities develop research laboratories to promote students' quest for high-tech industries, with a view to training the next generation of engineers.

In addition, according to official sources, OSRAM announced the appointment of Jes Munk Hansen as CEO and global sales chief of OSRAM Americas.

It is reported that Jes Munk Hansen joined OSRAM in 2013 and served as CEO of OSRAM Americas and President and CEO of OSRAM hi Wan. Hansen began to serve as chief executive officer of Lund Vance during the separation of OSRAM from landward Vance. In early 2018, landward Vance announced that Jacob Tarn, Samsung's former executive, took over as chairman of the management committee and CEO, and Jes Munk Hansen was no longer the chief executive and executive director. He left Lund Vance and returned to OSRAM with rich global leadership experience in Europe and North America.
