The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) plans to revise LED light bulb energy testing procedures

News on July 20 The reporter learned from the Ningbo Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau that the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) recently proposed light-emitting diodes (light - Emitting diode, LED) new energy test procedures for light bulbs, our country's stakeholders should pay attention to the response. It is understood that the proposal clarifies the method of measuring lumen output, output power and relative spectrum to determine the correlated color temperature. The rules also propose a method for calculating the life of LED bulbs, defining the life of an LED bulb as the length of time that the lumens are maintained to 70%, and adding methods for calculating the efficacy and color rendering index of LED bulbs. The U.S. Department of Energy also recently issued a supplementary notice to revise the definition of "life" to better align it with the Energy Policy and Conservation Act of 1975. "Energy Policy and Conser It is consistent with the statutory definition in the Act of 1975). DOE proposed a new definition of "failure time" to support the revised definition of "lifetime." Stakeholders can submit relevant comments, data and information before August 4.
