Introduction to LED product ODM and OEM certification

1. Concept
1. ODM, the abbreviation of Original design manufacturer. ODM means that after a manufacturer designs a certain product, in some cases it may be favored by other companies and require the latter's brand name for production. Therefore, the ODM cooperation method can be commonly known as "OEM". The ODM production plant itself has design and manufacturing capabilities.
2. OEM, the abbreviation of Original Equipment Manufacturer. It refers to an "OEM production" method, which means that the manufacturer does not directly produce products, but uses the "key core technologies" it has mastered to be responsible for the design, development, and control of sales "channels", and the specific processing tasks are handed over to other companies.
2. Commonly used certification modes in CCC certification
In addition to the ordinary certification mode, the certification modes for CCC certification include "ODM mode", "OEM mode" and "utilization of obtained certificate result mode".
1. Several elements of the "OEM model"
1) The manufacturer and the production plant are two legal entities.
2) The manufacturer is responsible for product design.
3) The production plant provides personnel and equipment to produce according to the manufacturer's requirements.
2. Several elements of the "ODM model"
1) The manufacturer and the production plant are two legal entities.
2) The manufacturer is responsible for product design and production.
3) The certified products in ODM mode must be completely consistent with the certified products of the manufacturer. Product models may vary.
4) If the manufacturer has not obtained the CCC certificate for the ODM model application product, it can also apply for CCC certification as an "ODM initial certification certificate holder".
3. Several elements of "utilizing the obtained certificate result model"
Except for OEM and ODM modes, application modes that require the use of obtained certificate results are collectively referred to as "use of obtained certificate results modes". For example: changing the certification principal for sales purposes, that is, "applicant A-manufacturer A-manufacturer A" is changed to "applicant B-manufacturer A-manufacturer A".
3. Certification requirements for different certification modes
1. "OEM mode"
1) Product testing requirements
OEM application requires full type testing.
2) Factory inspection requirements
Full factor factory inspection is required. If the OEM factory has already obtained certification for similar products or different types of products, the inspection of duplicate clauses can be exempted. However, it does not rule out re-examination and confirmation of the challenged clauses.
2. "ODM mode"
1) Product testing requirements
Testing agencies need to conduct consistency checks on ODM products.
2) Factory inspection requirements
In principle, factory inspection is not required.
3) Requirements for changes and extensions
- Holders of non-ODM initial certification certificates obtained in ODM mode shall not use the certification results as the basis for other manufacturers to apply for certification.
——If the parent certificate is changed, the ODM certificate should be changed at the same time.
4) ODM certificate validity period
- The validity period of the product certification certificate obtained in ODM mode is the shorter of the validity period specified in the ODM agreement and the validity period of the parent certificate, and cannot exceed 5 years.
——The manufacturer and production plant of the initial certification certificate are in ODM mode. The validity period of the certificate is the validity period of the ODM agreement and cannot exceed 5 years.
3. Except for OEM/ODM mode, the situation of using the obtained certificate result to obtain the certificate shall be implemented in accordance with the relevant requirements of this mode.
