Nichia's white light patent invalidated Everlight wins

Taiwan Everlight Electronics filed a request for invalidation trial of Nichia Chemical's JP4530094 patent with the Japan Patent Office on September 5, 2011. Everlight stated that the company has recently received a favorable decision from the Japan Intellectual Property Office and determined that Nichia’s patent is invalid. It is understood that the Japan Intellectual Property Office issued a notice of judgment on May 1, 2014, declaring that all rights in Nichia's patent are invalid, and the invalid rights include the phosphor concentration distribution of white LEDs. Regarding this result, Everlight pointed out that JP4530094, a patent for Nichia’s white light technology, was ruled invalid by the Japan Intellectual Property Office, which is of great significance to Everlight. In the future, Everlight is expected to fully open the Japanese market.
