Panel Double Tiger AUO and Innolux actively expand into the smart transportation display market

In order to avoid significant fluctuations in operations caused by the ups and downs in the traditional panel market, panel companies AUO and Innolux have actively expanded the field applications of non-traditional displays in recent years, especially in smart transportation-related markets. AUO and Innolux have achieved very good results both at home and abroad.

AUO has joined hands with the Taiwan Industrial Research Institute and the Shipbuilding Center to introduce the latest Micro LED transparent displays on the Kaohsiung Yawan Smart Ferry to expand its business opportunities in rail economy and smart transportation. In September 2022, AUO announced the establishment of the "AUO Solution R&D Center" in Yawan. It hopes to take advantage of Yawan's industrial cluster to build a 300-person R&D team as a R&D and testing site for multi-field solutions. In December last year, it took the lead in introducing the latest Micro LED transparent displays on the Kaohsiung Yawan Smart Ferry, integrating virtual and real AI cross-screen navigation systems to create smart window screens.

AUO's Daqing TARTAN monitors have been adopted by many countries around the world, and have been successively introduced into large-scale transportation projects such as French high-speed rail, Italian high-speed rail, Eurostar, and Japanese new energy unmanned buses. The application areas include train carriages, new energy public buses, taxis, station platforms, and airports. Although most of them are small and diverse applications, TARTAN monitors currently lead the global rail transit application market, accounting for more than 30% of the market share.

Innolux aims at the smart car cockpit market and has the ability to develop integrated cockpit display systems. It has received orders from Tesla, JEC, BMW, Ford, Porsche, General Motors and first-tier car manufacturers in mainland China, and its automotive revenue share has grown at an almost multiple rate. The 31-inch rear seat floating screen used in BMW's new generation luxury flagship sedan "Big Seven" is an Innolux product.

Innolux is also actively entering the rail economy field, expanding its cooperation with Beijie. In addition to launching Taiwan's first 5G dedicated network exhibition venue in the Ximen Underground Street, they also jointly built a digital train on the Bannan Line, introducing 48-inch monitors, 36-inch curved digital advertising screens, e-paper advertising screens, etc., and attracted the favor of brand owners such as Pokémon and New Balance, creating advertising revenue of NT$10 million.
