The largest sapphire production base has been settled in Lanzhou New District, and 220 sapphire crystal growth furnaces have been put into operation

We learned from the Lanzhou New District Base of China Silian Instrument Group that the project is currently investing 1 billion yuan to build the China Silian High-tech Northwest Industrial Base in Lanzhou New District. As the largest sapphire production base in China, it is planned to build production lines for LED packaging and LED lighting products, high-definition TV boxes, urban heating meters, and third-generation concentrated solar power generation systems.

As for the sapphire production project included in the plan, as the first phase of investment in the construction of 220 internationally and domestically advanced crystal growth furnaces for sapphire manufacturing, it has now been put into production. The rollout of this high-tech product will also effectively boost the development of the ecological industry in Lanzhou New District and expand the employment demand in Lanzhou New District.
It is understood that Wang Jiubin, deputy mayor of Yinchuan City in the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region and director of the Yinchuan Economic and Technological Development Zone Management Committee, was a guest on the "China Economic Online Interview" column and mentioned that with Apple and Huawei announcing the use of sapphire in smartphone screens, sapphire will become a pillar industry in Yinchuan. Wang Jiubin revealed that Yinchuan Economic and Technological Development Zone is building the country's most influential and largest industrial sapphire production base. By this time next year, sapphire output will reach 1,500 tons, and the country's largest and most influential sapphire industry will be formed by then.

During the interview, Mayor Wang also talked about some of the latest developments in Yinchuan's sapphire industry, "Currently, we regard sapphire as a key industry to track and build in the development zone. We have introduced two relatively large-scale enterprises and are now in mass production."
It is reported that with the promotion and use of sapphire in Apple's product chain and other smartphones in the future, the proportion of sapphire demand is expected to increase from 15% in 2013 to 55% in 2015. In 2014, the amount of sapphire materials used in mobile devices such as smartphones will be equal to that of sapphire substrates used in LEDs; in 2015, the demand for sapphire substrates for LEDs will be twice that of sapphire substrates, and the demand for sapphire in 2015 will be five times that of 2013.
