On August 5, at the Hongcheng Market Lighting Wholesale Market, reporters saw an endless stream of citizens buying lamps. The owner of a lighting store in the market told reporters: "Basically no one would choose incandescent lamps now. LED lamps used to be expensive and everyone couldn't afford them. Now they are cheaper, and more and more people are buying them. On the one hand, the quality of LED lamps is good, and on the other hand, the price is cheap."
It is understood that in 2009, the country issued the "Opinions on the Development of LED Energy-saving Industry" and in 2011 released a roadmap for phasing out incandescent lamps, which greatly promoted the development of the LED energy-saving lamp market. With the continuous advancement of LED energy-saving product research and development, the cost of LED lamps has gradually decreased.
The reporter learned that LED products are not only favored by citizens, but also play an irreplaceable role in urban development. In the implementation of the "Ten Cities Ten Thousand Lights" project in Nanchang, the street light management department actively took energy-saving measures and all landscape lights used LED energy-saving lamps. In addition, in the lighting projects on both sides of the Ganjiang River, LED energy-saving lamps are basically used.
Current situation: Nanchang LED industry is booming
It is understood that Nanchang is the earliest region in my country to engage in LED R&D and production, which has laid a solid foundation for the development of Nanchang LED industry cluster, and has achieved large-scale production in the LED upstream, midstream and downstream industries many years ago.
Yesterday, reporters learned from the Nanchang Municipal Science and Technology Bureau that after nearly three decades of development, there are now more than 20 LED companies in Nanchang. Relying on leading companies such as Lianchuang Optoelectronics, Jingneng Optoelectronics, and Xinlei Optoelectronics, it has also spawned nearly a hundred supporting companies, and has initially formed a relatively complete industrial chain such as LED substrate production, epitaxial wafers, chip manufacturing, and chip packaging application products.
It is understood that Jingneng Optoelectronics Co., Ltd., located in Nanchang High-tech Zone, has made breakthroughs in key technologies, successfully applied silicon substrate LED chips to lighting, and created a silicon substrate LED industry chain with 10 units.
Advantages: “Silicon substrate LED technology” leads the world
The advantages of Nanchang’s LED industry are concentrated in the upstream substrate and epitaxial wafer production processes. Relying on the "silicon substrate blue LED technology" developed by a team led by Professor Jiang Fengyi of Nanchang University, it broke the monopoly of Japan and the United States on upstream core technologies in one fell swoop, forming a tripartite situation of three international LED upstream substrate technologies: sapphire, silicon carbide, and silicon. Nanchang Jingneng Optoelectronics Co., Ltd. has obtained more than 200 patents around the world relying on this technology. This is not only of great significance for China to occupy a favorable position in the international LED industry, but also provides Nanchang with key innate advantages in developing the LED industry at the core technology level. In addition, Nanchang is at the forefront of the country in research on power high-brightness LED chip manufacturing, high-power white LED device packaging and semiconductor lighting source system integration technology.
In addition, the reporter also learned that the LED core equipment - MOCVD equipment developed by Nanchang University has been successfully developed. This equipment can not only be used for the production of LED epitaxial wafers on traditional substrates such as sapphire, but also suitable for the production of LED epitaxial wafers on silicon substrates. The cost performance is better than similar foreign products. Small-scale production development work is currently underway. In recent years, the industrialization of LED core equipment and technology with complete intellectual property rights in my country will be realized.
Prospects: Nanchang has many policies to support the LED industry
During the interview, the reporter learned that in order to support the development of the LED industry, Nanchang issued "Several Policies and Measures to Support the LED Industry in Nanchang" last year. Nanchang will provide all-round support in terms of funds, taxes, talents, market development, and supporting services for industrial development. The goal is to take the Nanchang LED industry cluster as the center, apply and promote it to surrounding provinces, and build an LED R&D, design, production and sales center. By then, Nanchang is expected to become an "LED City" and establish one of the main export bases for LED products through cooperation with international companies. Rapidly expand Nanchang's LED industry and strive to achieve an output value of over 15 billion yuan by 2015 and an output value of over 50 billion yuan by 2020.
